John Thadison, Developer at Far Reach

You told us you want to know more about the people behind your projects. You got it. This is the 15th profile in that series.

John Thadison

How do you help clients?
I write code for web applications—turning designs into finished products.

What led you to here?
I met lots of people from Far Reach at events like TechBrew, CVINETA, and EntreFEST. I liked them and they liked me. That led to an interview.

Tell us about your background or training.
I studied computer engineering technology in college. There was some programming, but the emphasis was on hardware.

I interned at WorldCom during my first year in grad school. There was lots of programming. My internship led to a full-time job there.

What is your work mantra?
“Stay competitive.” Tech is always changing. You have to continue to learn to stay competitive.

What guides you?
It goes back to continuing to learn. If you get stagnant, you get left behind.

What are you reading?
I’m reading "Getting Naked" for the Far Reach book club. I’m also catching up on a book about scrum, which the book club read before I joined Far Reach.

Who do you follow?
I listen to Tim Ferriss's podcast. He interviews all kinds of interesting people.

What’s your favorite app?
My favorite app is Spotify. I love to listen to all kinds of music, and Spotify has a huge collection from all genres.

Where do you see the field going in 1-3 years?
Mobile will get bigger and bigger. Today, people’s phones are essential. They’re almost like computers. They can do almost anything a desktop computer can do.
