Problem/Opportunity:
- Website only had a few pages and was difficult to update.
- Staff spent significant time on the phone answering questions from the public.
- To offer the public the information it was looking for on the website required time-consuming duplicate data entry.
Action:
- Created a content managed website giving the department control over the pages they wanted on their site.
- The department created a "How Do I" section on the website.
- Wrote a program to push warrant and inmate information from the department's internal system to the website every half hour.
Result:
- An easily-maintainable website that allows the department to provide the public with relevant and timely information.
- Reduction in phone calls means staff is able to focus on priority tasks.
