Website Design & Development Platform: ASP.NET, C#, SQL Server Far Reach Technologies was hired by the Bi-State Regional Commission (Bi-State) to design and develop and new website and data portal. Bi-State is a regional council of governments staffed by professionals who provide assistance to local governments and support the Commission's standing committees. The primary goals of this new website included: Give users access to regional statistics via an interactive data mining tool. Providing such a tool would reduce the number of direct requests for data from Bi-State. Provide a centralized location for data for the Greater Quad Cities Region. Give Bi-State the ability to keep data updated and to add any type of custom data sets. Far Reach met the project goals by creating: Data loading tools for the Bi-State staff to give them the ability to upload many types of data sets including Demographic, Social, Economic, and Housing. Custom data mining tools to provide website visitors the ability to access data for their desired location(s), data sets and year. For example, users can quickly view populations for multiple locations from the 2000 or 1990 U.S. Census Bureau. Each data set displayed can be exported to Excel or PDF.
